By Captain Michael Holden As promised by Enriov (Admiral) Rohnok, the null-sensor field and force field, surrounding the area on the opposite side of the planet, was lowered. Teams led by Commander Carishai and Commander Lobren, went down to investigate just what the Romulans had been doing. What they found was appalling. The Tal’Shiar had set up a research facility and were trying to perfect a cloning process. They would abduct colonists, clone them, eliminating the original colonists and try “programming” their minds to become sleeper agents for the Empire. This process left their clones mindless. There had only been one semi-successful attempt, and that was the young girl, now being called Angelita. While their programming techniques did not fully restore the original girls’ memories to Angelita, it also did not leave her mindless. The girl, in fact was quite resourceful and had managed to get herself aboard one of the late-night runs to the colony. While the centurions were off doing what were instructed to do, Angelita managed to escape into the colony. The Tal’Shiar researchers had only recently discovered that she was nowhere in the facility. Enriov Rohnok had the security crews from his warbird as well as the Valdor-class warbird, take the rogue Tal’Shiar operatives and researchers into custody. He assured Captain Holden they would be dealt with and even offered to take the youg girl clone, but Holden declined that, stating his own officers would take care of her. Administrator Buffens was taken into custody. He was charged with actis of treason and willifully endangering Federation citizens. Holden was requested to deliver the man to Starbase 077 to stand trial. Some of the colonists requested to leave Xionus IV. Others said they would stay and continue working there. Those that requested to leave were also transported to SB-077 to catch transports to other areas in the Federation. Angelita was finally permitted to come aboard the Excelsior. After a thorough investigation by Commanders Carishai and Lobren, it was declared that the girl was essentially an orphan. Dr. Harris performed a more extensive physical and confirmed that she was a clone. Counselor N’Tazzia was unable to find any sign of the Tal’Shiar programming in the girl’s mind, but she admitted there could be something even deeper than she was able to probe. Only time would tell. First Lieutenant McMillian and Lieutenant junior grade Waite had both agreed to a shared custody of Angelita. They were told by the captain to initiate formal adoption procedures when they arrived at SB-077. The Excelsior had remained in orbit of Xionus IV for an additional week, overseeing the dismantling of the Tal’Shiar facility. It took two days to reach Starbase 077. Lt. Gar and Commander Lobren were called to testify at Buffens’ trial, in which he was found guilty of all charges. ### Offline | |
