"Sherlock and Larie" JL pt.6

Mrs. Larie Grimes, Lieutenant Sherlock Grimes,
Posted on 202006.27
Sherlock took a deep breath.  Here was where he had to decide if he wanted the responsibility of Larie from now on.  She would be a responsibility, but she would also be a companion, a friend, a lover, someone who could make him smile and laugh, someone he would have to teach and guide, but someone who would love him without condition.  “I would like you to come with me, to my ship, the USS Excelsior.” He said softly and caressed her hair tenderly away from her face. “If you want to.” He wasn’t going to force her, but he wanted to be with her for as long as she wanted him.

Her face broke into a brilliant smile and she snuggled closer to him.  “Yes, I do want to go with you, always, Sherlock. Now that I know you, I don’t want to be without you.  I’m glad Mardel introduced us, I will have to thank her when I see her again. Will I be allowed on your ship?  Will I be safe?” She wondered about mating, they hadn’t marked each other yet and they hadn’t gone through the ritual claiming each other.  She would have to tell him about that. “Would we be mates? Like Mardel and Daniel? Would we have to have one of those big ceremonies?” She wanted to be mates with him, but not if it meant having everyone stare at her and make it all so stressful.

Sherlock understood her need to be reassured.  He hadn’t really believed that anyone could be so afraid until he realized she had lived her whole life afraid of slave hunters and after what happened in the bar yesterday, it wasn’t a groundless fear.  “I promise you, Larie, you will be safe on the Excelsior and you will be allowed to be with me there.” He had to find an answer about the mating though. He wasn’t ready yet to be married even if he was ready to commit to taking care of Larie.  He wanted more time to get to know her and have her get to know him. She might have second thoughts when she came out of her shell. “As for mating, I’m not sure how that works with your people. But for mine we don’t have to have a big ceremony.  A small one works as well. And believe me, when the time comes, I will want to have that small ceremony with just a few people.” If he was going to get married, then he was going to put a ring on the tiny green finger for the whole universe to know he had claimed her for himself.

Larie dimpled and looked at him.  “Mating is very easy on Orion. To make it lifelong mates, you have to do certain things, but once those are done, you are mates for life.  When mating, just for a season, you simply mark each other during sex, either by biting or sucking, it doesn’t matter. It just has to be visible to others so they know you are claimed.  If you want to mate for a lifetime, then you have to have your hands joined together tightly while you have sex and then when you climax you have to say you claim the other forever and then mark them.”  She explained. “It’s all pretty simple. Then the body chemistry in the female changes and she is only ever turned on by the one she is mated with.”

Sherlock thought about that.  “What about having children? We weren’t exactly careful last night.”  He asked. He thought the mating on Orion sounded like a nice way to do it, but he still wanted to put a ring on her finger.

Giggling, Larie just kissed him.  “I’m a protected one, meaning I’m a healer, not a breeder.  I can’t have children unless I go through a ceremony that will open my womb so I can be a breeder.”  She looked at him. “Do you want me to do the ceremony?” She asked.

He felt some relief.  He was glad that he hadn’t made her pregnant. He smiled at her.  “Not just yet, Larie. We will hold off on that ceremony until we are both certain we want to be lifetime mates.”  He didn’t know what was involved in the ceremony, but he was pretty sure he wouldn’t be allowed to watch it or be part of it.

Larie looked at him from the corner of her eye as she thought about that.  “Okay, I won’t go through the ceremony to be a breeder until you ask it of me.”  She wondered if he would accept her mark. She kissed his neck and up to his ear.  She had discovered last night that he was very sensitive when she sucked on his lobe.  “I want to claim you, Sherlock, for my own. We don’t have to mate yet, when you are ready.  But I want everyone to know you are mine.” She then moved down and licked and sucked on his neck, creating her mark on him.

Sherlock felt a shiver go up his spine as she sucked on his ear lobe and then whispered her desire to him.  He felt her give him a hickey and smiled. It wasn’t mating yet, but it was the Orion way of making the promise of a future mating.  He then moved his mouth to cover the skin on her neck and give her a hickey as well. He wanted everyone to know that he claimed her as well.

Larie sighed with contentment then, she had been marked, he had claimed her.  Someone in the universe found her desirable and wanted to claim her for his own.  She never thought that would happen. Then her stomach rumbled and she sighed again.  “I think we need a morning meal.” She said simply. “What do people eat in the morning here?”  She asked.

Chuckling, Sherlock couldn’t believe how random she could be, but she was right, he was hungry as well.  He then thought of all the possible breakfast foods and shook his head. He started to list them all, starting with his favorites and watched as her eyes got wide in her face.  He had to laugh when she asked if she had to eat all of that at one meal. It made him wonder how meal time worked on Orion. He had learned though that she would tell him without him asking if he showed any interest.

She was thankful she didn’t have to try to eat that much.  She had never been a big eater, sometimes because she could reach what she wanted and no one would pass it to her because they didn’t notice she was asking for it and sometimes because she just didn’t feel like eating what she could reach.  She explained to him how meals worked on Orion, where all the food was prepared and put in serving dishing the middle of several large blankets and then everyone helped themselves from the dishes offered. “Why don’t you pick something for me.  After I sample them all, over time and not at once, I will be able to pick my own morning meal.” She told him and then moved away from him to go to the bathing room and relieve herself of waste.

While Larie was using the bathroom, he went to the replicator and ordered up scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and sausage with country gravy over the eggs with extra on the side for the hashbrowns and sausage if she wanted it.  He also got her orange juice to try. He put some salt and pepper on the table if she wanted it.

Larie came to the table and looked at the plate of food sitting there for her.  She was surprised when Sherlock stood behind her and helped her move her seat to the table after she sat.  This must be a form of respect where he came from. He explained the salt and pepper and how to use them. She lifted the fork and tasted the yellow and white pile on the plate and didn’t care much for it, too bland.  She then tried the salt and pepper and added a little salt and a lot of pepper. Then she tried it again and smiled, now it was good. She watched as he showed her how to cut the sausage with the side of her fork and then to use her fingers to eat the bacon.  She didn’t care much for the bacon, but she loved the spice of the sausage. She tried the hashbrowns and enjoyed them, but they needed a sauce and she wasn’t sure how to ask for it or even want to sauce to ask for. The juice was good. She pushed her plate away with only half of the eggs gone as well as all the sausage gone and half of one strip of bacon and a few bites of the hashbrowns.  She smiled as Sherlock finished her food. She was glad it wasn’t going to go to waste.
